Butter Batter (Napalm) Pie

Yesterday at the olallieberry farm, one of the hip and not cranky farmers told us about the Butter Batter Pie his grandmother used to make. Since you "can never have too much butter," I decided to see what it was all about.

Here's the recipe:

Filling:
1 stick of butter
1 tsp lemon juice
4 cups of fresh berries (I used half blackberries/half olallieberry berries)
1 cup of sugar

Topping:
1 cup of self-rising flour
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup of milk

Putting it together:
1. Preheat oven to 375º
2. Place butter in 8 x 8 square, glass baking dish and melt the butter in the microwave
3. In a mixing bowl, combine lemon juice, sugar, and berries
4. Add the berry mixture to the baking dish with the melted butter. Do not stir.
5. Combine all of the topping ingredients in a small bowl. Pour the mixture over the berries
6. Bake 45 minutes or until a nice deep brown

Just checked on it and it looks like if I decided to put my finger in it right about now, it would remove all the skin to the bone.
