Someone comes to town. Someone leaves town.

I heard this somewhere and it stuck. Then the other day on Boing Boing, I discovered this book title.

Yesterday we drove up to look at yet another place in San Mateo. This one was further from downtown, about a 10 minute walk, but still had a walkscore of 77. It's a nice location near the train station and a Trader Joe's. Not exactly the Royan-esque walkability we wanted but considering how difficult it is to find something suitable, it will do.

We drove past the kids' school again, just to remind them of where they'll be going next week. We do a lot of prep and happiness before a big change for them, which they are good with, but when the moment of change comes there's always a melt-down period. It's to be expected. As we were driving down the Alameda de las Pulgas, we thought about how funny it was that we will end up in San Mateo; it wasn't even on the list of possibilities when we headed up here, but now it makes perfect sense. We feel good about narrowing it down from the initial list: Sonoma; Marin; San Francisco; Berkeley; Oakland; Pacifica; Campbell; Santa Cruz; Capitola; Aptos.

Seems like we were doing this same thing about two years ago.
