Sounds of Royan

Yesterday I awoke to the sound of what I thought was, a choir singing. It sounded like singers warming up, long extended notes. "That's nice" I thought, "at 5:30 in the morning." I kept listening until the sound got louder and was right outside the house. It was the brakes of the recycling truck, making its rounds through the streets of Royan.

I've gotten used hearing the bells of the church nearby and how they mark the hours for me and serve as my alarm clock. So I noticed that there were no bells today. Just now, at 10:30 pm, the bells have started ringing, the extended version. I know it has something to do with Easter but 10:30? What's up with that?
