La Tremblade

Tonight we went to La Tremblade for a drive and to take the kids to a park there we had visited before. We drove out to the port where we discovered a canal lined with little fishing cabins, boats and oyster traps. At the end of the road was a restaurant, Chez Robert, which was AMAZING! - the best dining out experience we've had in France so far. Beth had a assiette of prawns and lobster and assorted other shellfish in a shockingly delicious lychee sauce. It brought tears of joy to my eyes. Don and I both had the salmon over lentils with a sauce also to die for. Bryan had the ham in a three pepper sauce and the kids enjoyed their menus enfants which consisted of a tomato salad, a sausage and french fries. For dessert, Don had an assortment of cheeses, Bryan had strawberry cream pie and I had the best (I know I always say this but...) chocolate creme tart with cherries. Our waiter was, we think, the teenage son of the owner. He was charming and attentive. The perfect experience.
